The implant, made of titanium or ceramic, is placed in the jaw where the root of the original tooth was. Once the implant is fully integrated into the bone, a dental crown will be placed on it.

The surgery for implant placement takes about 45 minutes, is performed under local anesthesia, and is completely painless. If desired, sedation can be administered.

In many cases, fixed teeth can be placed on the day of surgery, while in other cases, depending on bone quality, a waiting period may be necessary for implant integration.
