Corrective orthodontics can be basically divided into three methods: fixed orthodontics (brackets or other components attached to the teeth), removable orthodontics (removable appliances not attached and can be manipulated by the patient), and aligners using thermoplastic trays (trays molded to the shape of the arch, not attached - removable).

In adults, when the bone bases are significantly discrepant, a combination of orthodontics and orthognathic surgery may be necessary. In developing children, these discrepancies can be treated with orthodontics combined with orthopedic appliances.
